Game Recap: Baseball |
Tampa, Fla. – South Florida scored four runs in the final two innings to earn an 8-7 victory over the Bradley baseball team on Sunday afternoon. The Braves fall to 4-8 on the season, while the Bulls improve to 10-6.

Junior Connor O'Brien and sophomore Ryan Vogel each led the Braves with three hits on the day, while Carson Husmann chipped in two. Sophomore Jackson Chatterton led BU with three RBI in the final game of the three-game series.

The Bulls scored four runs in the second inning but Bradley would answer with seven-straight runs to pull in front, starting with a four-run fourth. After the first three Braves reached base safely, Peter Hansen drove one in with a sacrifice fly before a triple by Chatterton plated two more for the 4-3 game. Freshman Timmy O'Brien then completed the inning with his first career RBI when his single knotted the game at four.

Bradley then added one in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings to move in front. Keaton Rice gave BU the lead with a sacrifice fly in the fifth before Chatterton followed with one of his own in the sixth to double the advantage. The Braves were then able to take advantage of a USF error in the seventh for a 7-4 lead.

The Braves, however, would get into some trouble of their own with an error to start the eighth inning. South Florida was able to take advantage and pull momentum toward its side as it followed with a walk and a double for a 7-5 contest. A single would follow shortly afterwards as the unearned run pulled the home team even with Bradley at seven through eight innings.

Bradley was unable to take advantage of two hits in the top half of the ninth and the Bulls were then able to secure the series victory when Carmine Lane hit a solo shot for the 8-7 win.

The Braves remain in Florida to complete its Spring Break trip and play their next five games in Winter Haven – starting on Tuesday versus Fairfield with a noon CT first pitch.
