Braves Fall to Central Connecticut, 10-6

Auburndale, Fla. – A seven-run fourth inning proved to be too much for the Bradley baseball team to overcome as Central Connecticut earned a 10-6 victory on Saturday afternoon. The Braves are now 5-10 on the season, while the Blue Devils improve to 6-4.
 
Junior Connor O'Brien led the Braves with three hits on the afternoon – hitting one home run to go with three RBI.
 
Central Connecticut scored three runs in the first two innings to take a lead it would never give back. After an unearned run in the first frame, a two-out double in the second added two more runs for a 3-0 lead. Bradley pulled one back in the third inning when O'Brien drove one in with a single for the 3-1 game after three innings of play.
 
The Blue Devils, however, would tally seven runs in the fourth inning – hitting a grand slam to break the game open before adding three more runs for the 10-1 ballgame.
 
The Braves attempted to fight back with five runs in the seventh and eighth innings. Ryan Vogel plated one with an RBI single in the seventh before O'Brien hit a two-run homer for a 10-4 contest after seven innings. Jackson Chatterton then singled home a run in the eighth before scoring on a wild pitch for the 10-6 game.
 
Bradley, however, was unable to complete its comeback in the ninth as it was unable to take advantage of a leadoff single in the 10-6 CCSU victory.
 
The Braves are back in action on Sunday morning, completing its Spring Break trip with a 9 p.m. CT game against Dartmouth.
