Tennessee Tech Rallies Past Bradley Baseball

Cookeville, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech scored 11 runs in the eighth inning to rally for a 12-8 victory over the Bradley baseball team on Saturday afternoon. The Braves are now 6-12 on the season, while the Golden Eagles improve to 15-6.
 
Freshman Cal McGinnis led BU on the day, matching his season high with three hits to go with a personal-best four RBI – double his previous best. Junior Connor O'Brien and sophomores Jackson Chatterton and Ryan Vogel also produced two-hit games.
 
Tennessee Tech scored the game's first run in the second inning before Bradley scored seven unanswered. With two outs and the bases loaded in the fourth inning, McGinnis cleared the bases with a double down the right-field line for a 3-1 Bradley advantage. The Braves then added two in the seventh – scoring on an error and a sacrifice fly.
 
Bradley stretched its advantage to six in the top of the eighth. A Vogel single brought McGinnis home before Vogel scored himself after an RBI single from O'Brien. However, the Golden Eagles answered with 11 runs in their half of the inning. Tennessee Tech knotted the game at seven with three-straight bases-loaded walks. The home team then added three more singles that scored five for a 12-7 lead.
 
The Braves pulled one back in the ninth when McGinnis drove in his final run of the game with a two-out double but the Golden Eagles were able to finish off the 12-8 victory.
 
The rubber game of the series is set for tomorrow afternoon with a 1 p.m. first pitch.
