Game Recap: Baseball |
Peoria, Ill. – The Bradley baseball team split a pair of games against Wright State on Saturday afternoon, falling in the opener, 2-0, before winning the second game in 10 innings, 5-4. The Braves are now 9-16 on the season, while the Raiders move to 13-15.

GAME ONE RECAP
Despite an outstanding pitching performance from freshman Jacob Kisting, the Braves fell in the opener versus the Raiders behind two unearned runs.

The teams combined for only two hits through the first four innings of the game before Wright State scored unearned runs in back-to-back frames in the fifth and sixth. A one-out walk and a two-base error resulted in the go-ahead run in the fifth, before a throwing error and a sacrifice fly doubled the advantage in the sixth.

Bradley, who hit into three double plays during the first five innings, had its best chance to score in the sixth when it loaded the bases with only one out. However, back-to-back strikeouts allowed the Raiders to get out of the jam and hold on for the 2-0 victory.

Kisting pitched 6.0 innings and allowed only one hit and zero unearned runs on the mound, striking out five batters.

GAME TWO RECAP
The Braves earned their first walk-off win of the season with a 5-4 10-inning victory in the second game of the doubleheader.

Senior Connor O'Brien and freshman Michael Mylott led the Braves with two hits apiece with Mylott matching his career best with three RBI.

Wright State struck first in the contest with two runs in the first inning, scoring via a sacrifice fly and a two-out single. The Raiders then extended their lead in the fourth inning with a solo home run for a 3-0 advantage.

Bradley finally got on the scoreboard in the sixth inning with a four-run frame. The first three Braves reached base before Jackson Chatterton drew a walk for BU's first run of the day. Mylott then cleared the bases with a double down the left-field line for a 4-3 Bradley advantage.

The BU edge held until two outs in the ninth inning when Jay Luikart tied the game with a solo home run. The Braves would answer back, however, in the 10th. Chatterton singled and then stole second to move into scoring position. He then advanced a further 90 feet after a passed ball before scoring on a fielder's choice to the pitcher for the 5-4 victory.

Senior Nick King earned his first win of the season for Bradley, pitching 5.0 innings and allowing just one run and one hit.

UP NEXT
The Braves wrap up their three-game series tomorrow afternoon with a 1 p.m. first pitch. Following the game, the Braves will hold their annual head-shaving event in support of the Vs. Cancer Foundation.
