EVANSVILLE, Ind. -- Bradley Cross Country swept the Missouri Valley Conference Championships for the second straight season, dominating the Women's 6K and Men's 8K Championship races. This also marks the third time in four years that Bradley has swept the team titles and the eighth time each gender has won an MVC title.
The Women's 6K Championship was a perfect race for the Braves, as the team scored an MVC-record 15 points to win the conference title. The point total surpasses the prior conference championship record of 17, set by Loyola-Chicago in 2019. Seven Braves placed in the top 10 to earn All-Conference honors, which includes Bradley runners occupying the top six.
Kaitlyn Sheppard finished in first place with a time of 20:48.73, earning MVC Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Year. She is the first female Brave to win Athlete of the Year since 2022, when Nicola Jansen earned the honor.
Abigail Hancock finished just behind her in second place with a time of 20:58.95, while
Noelle Steines finished third in 21:06.67 to earn the MVC Freshman of the Year award.
Rhune Vanroose (fourth, 21:07.63),
Trixie Wraith (fifth, 21:09.84) and
Anna Perry (sixth, 21:11.66) rounded out the top six, while
Nadia Potgieter finished ninth at 21:14.04 to round out the All-Conference honorees.
Carissa Hamilton finished just outside the top 15, placing 18th with a 21:39.89.
The Men's 8K Championship saw the Braves complete their second straight MVC sweep, as the men scored 49 points, 25 points ahead of runners-up UIC. Three Braves finished in the top seven, earning All-Conference honors, while another Brave notched a top-15 finish to earn All-MVC Honorable Mention.
JD Rosslee finished in first place by 17 seconds, clocking a time of 24:01.52 to earn MVC Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Year. Rosslee is the first man to win MVC Athlete of the Year since Jake Hoffert took first place at the 2019 MVC Championships.
Caleb Lind continued his strong senior season, placing fourth with a time of 24:27.41.
Michael Rebello placed seventh with a time of 24:40.94 to round out All-MVC First Team honorees. Rebello was also the male recipient of the conference's Elite 18 Award as the top-10 finisher with the highest cumulative grade point average; Rebello has a 4.00 GPA in Nutrition and Dietetics.
Oliver Burns earned All-MVC Honorable Mention, finishing 13th with a time of 24:54.78. Freshman
Jacob Trangmar rounded out scoring for the Braves, finishing 24th at 25:16.78.
The MVC Championship sweep earned Head Coach
Andrew Carlson the Men's and Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year award sweep for the second time in his brief Bradley tenure.
