EVANSVILLE RECAP

Braves Cap off Senior Weekend with a Sweep

Game Recap: Softball |

PEORIA, Ill. – Bradley Softball capped off Senior Weekend with a dominant sweep of Evansville, winning both games of Saturday's doubleheader and closing out the series with a commanding run-rule victory on Sunday at OSF Healthcare Field.

The Braves opened Saturday with a thrilling 10-9 extra-inning win in 12 innings. Bradley erased a seven-run Evansville rally in the seventh and responded late, thanks to a clutch RBI effort from freshman catcher Emily Organ and a three-RBI day from Abbott Badgley. Defensively, the Braves leaned on a resilient bullpen, working around Evansville's season-high 18 runners left on base.

Game two saw the Braves maintain their momentum in a 10-6 victory. Badgley blasted her second home run of the day, while Organ notched her first collegiate home run to break the game open in the sixth. Addie Welsh also continued her late-season surge with a multi-hit performance, contributing key runs from the bottom of the order.

Prior to Sunday's series finale, Bradley honored seniors Addie Welsh, Abbott Badgley, Sydney Kennedy, Bailey Sample and Allie Paregien in a pregame ceremony celebrating their contributions to the program.

Bradley then delivered its cleanest performance of the weekend, rolling to a 9-0 run-rule win behind a one-hit shutout from Kennedy. Organ again led the way offensively with two hits and an RBI, extending her weekend total to a .444 batting average (4-for-9). The Braves' defense was sharp, committing no errors and holding Evansville to just one baserunner after the second inning.

  • Balanced Offense:
Bradley averaged 9.7 runs per game over the weekend and tallied 33 hits in three games, showcasing the team's highest offensive output since early March.

  • Clutch Hitting:
The Braves went 7-for-16 (.438) with runners in scoring position across the series, a significant jump compared to their previous series performance.

  • Pitching Stability:
Sydney Kennedy recorded her third complete-game shutout of the season in Sunday's finale, lowering her ERA by nearly a full run over her last four outings.

  • Defensive Improvement:
Bradley has committed just two errors over its last five games, a major step forward after averaging nearly two errors per game earlier in April.

The Braves head to UIC for the final series of the regular season before playing in the MVC Championship in Des Moines.
