STANFORD, Calif. – Despite being a long way from home, Bradley Track & Field showed its middle- and long-distance prowess at the Stanford Invitational and Mike Fanelli Track Classic on April 4-5.
Two program records and 19 new top 10 and personal best times were set in California.
Jack Crull ran a 3:40.51 in the men's 1500m to lower his own program record. Crull also won the 1500m event, edging out runner-up Garrett MacQuiddy of California by just one-hundredth of a second.
Jaxson Copelin (3:48.27) and
Travis Gaffney (3:49.96) each set new personal bests in their respective sections in the 1500m.
The women's 1500m event saw
Kaitlyn Sheppard set the fourth-fastest Bradley time at 4:20.68.
Trixie Wraith (4:21.43, #5), Abi Hancock (4:21.63, #6) and
Eimear McCarroll (4:24.16, #10) set new top 10 times, while
Ciara Thornley set a new personal best at 4:28.41.
Jayde Rosslee's 13:39.10 in the 5000m event broke Michael Ward's program record by 15 seconds, while
Caleb Lind's 13:56.95 is the third-fastest time in program history.
Nadia Potgieter ran the third-fastest women's 5000m time in program history at 16:10.68.
The 800m men's and women's runners maintained their season-long success.
Matthew Burnett's event-winning 1:49.31 is the fourth-fastest time in program history.
Jamie Phillips (1:50.00) and
Kaden Kingsmith (1:50.41) ran the sixth- and ninth-fastest times in program history. Sheppard ran a 2:10.01 to sneak into the top 10 program times, while
Eilen Brenne (2:10.02), McCarroll (2:10.66) and Thornley (2:13.85) set new personal bests in their women's 800m races.
Rhune Vanroose ran 10:44.72 in the steeplechase for the fourth-fastest time in Bradley history in the team's first steeplechase endeavor of the season.
The Braves also succeeded in the EIU Big Blue Classic in Charleston, Ill.
Julia de Palma Mendiguchia ran 1:02.42 in her women's 400m Hurdles race, breaking Charlene Dewey's 1985 program record of 1:03.25.
Amiyah Davis ran a new personal-best of 24.59 seconds in the women's 200m event to set the second-fastest women's 200m time in program history.
Carolina Martinez completed her race in 25.41 seconds, the 10th-fastest time in program history.
COMING UP…
Bradley will compete locally after a travel-filled week, running in The Normal Invite, hosted by Illinois State, on April 11-12.
