Game Recap: Baseball |

UNLV 12, Bradley 9

Las Vegas, NV. – Bradley built an early lead but a nine-run seventh inning by UNLV proved to be the difference in a 12-9 setback Friday night at Earl E. Wilson Stadium.

The Braves came out swinging, plating four runs in the top of the first to seize early momentum. Hayden Miller and Anthony Martinez each delivered RBI knocks in the opening frame, while Bradley capitalized on timely hitting to jump in front 4-0.

Bradley added to its advantage in the third when A.J. Garcia launched a solo home run, his first of the season, to extend the lead to 5-0. The Braves tacked on another run in the fifth behind continued offensive pressure, holding a 6-0 cushion midway through the contest.

UNLV broke through in the sixth with two runs before erupting in the seventh. The Rebels sent 13 batters to the plate in the frame, scoring nine runs on four hits and taking advantage of walks and hit batters to swing the game in their favor.

Trailing 11-6, Bradley showed fight in the eighth. Miller connected on a solo home run, and the Braves strung together key at-bats to score three runs and trim the deficit to 11-9. However, UNLV answered with an insurance run in the bottom half and held off the Braves in the ninth.

Bradley finished with 11 hits on the night. Miller paced the offense with a 2-for-5 performance, including a home run and two RBIs. Garcia added a homer and drove in a run, while Jack Holubowski went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Sohrab Rezaei also contributed two RBIs in the contest.

On the mound, William Soignier delivered 3.1 scoreless innings with eight strikeouts to start the game. Davis Webb and Robert Sanford followed in relief before Brady Appel (0-1) was charged with the loss as UNLV surged ahead in the seventh.
