PEORIA, Ill. – Bradley Baseball dropped their weekday game to the Iowa Hawkeyes on Tuesday, 21-8.

Keeping it Close Early

Iowa opened the game with four straight walks to score first and proceeded to score four more runs to take a 5-0 lead before the Braves had a chance to bat. Bradley responded in the bottom half of the inning when Anthony Martinez was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, and then Michael Quick cleared the bases with a grand slam to tie the game at 5-5.

The Hawkeyes regained the lead in the second with a two-run homer and added five more runs to make it 12-5. Iowa extended their lead with one run in the third inning and two in the fourth to make it 16-5.

Bradley began to show signs of life in the fifth with Sohrab Rezaei's sacrifice fly, Quick's RBI single, and a wild pitch that allowed Martinez to score. The Hawkeyes put a stop to the late rally, scoring three runs in the sixth and another run in the seventh to take a 21-8 win via run-rule.
