Bradley Baseball Falls 13–6 at Purdue

PEORIA, Ill. – Bradley Baseball fell to the Purdue Boilermakers 13-6 on Tuesday to start their five-game road trip.

Keeping it Close Early

The Braves opened the scoring in the top of the first on a Landon Lowe single, followed by an RBI double from Michael Quick. Bradley doubled their lead in the third with a bases-loaded walk from Luke Skinner that scored Sohrab Rezaei. Purdue tied the game in the bottom half of the inning with a two-RBI single.

The Boilermakers capitalized on Bradley's mistakes in the fourth inning, scoring three runs to take the lead. The Braves responded with four runs in the fifth inning, highlighted by Skinner's RBI single, Anthony Martinez's RBI single, and a Jaxon Schumacher fielder's choice that scored two runs.

Purdue tied the game in the sixth inning with an RBI single and regained the lead in the seventh with a six-run inning that included two sacrifice flies, a run that scored on a fielding error, and two RBI singles. The Boilermakers added one more run in the eighth on an RBI single to secure the 13-6 win. 

Standout Performances for Bradley

Lowe hit 3-for-4 on the day with a hit-by-pitch, two runs scored, and a stolen base. Quick continued his hot streak, going 2-for-3 with a double, two walks, an RBI, and a run scored. 

Martinez continued his strong play from this past weekend, going 2-for-3 with an RBI. Skinner had a strong performance, hitting 2-for-3 with a walk, two RBI, and a run scored.

On the Mound

Josh Vaughn started and was lights out, pitching two innings while striking out three and allowing only one baserunner via a hit-by-pitch. Davis Webb also continued his phenomenal pitching from this past weekend, striking out three of the four batters he faced without allowing a baserunner over 1.1 innings. 

Jackson Horras took his second loss of the season, pitching one inning and allowing two runs on two hits while walking three and striking out two. The Braves' pitching staff combined for 14 strikeouts and allowed only six earned runs.

Eli Anderson led the Boilermakers at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and a run scored from the leadoff spot. On the mound, Joe Trenerry earned his first win of the season, throwing 2.1 scoreless innings, yielding two hits and one walk while striking out two.
