PEORIA, Ill. – Bradley Baseball celebrated Senior Night with a 6-2 victory over UIC on Saturday afternoon at Dozer Park, using a pair of late home runs and a strong effort on the mound to secure the series finale.
Braves Strike Early, Pull Away Late
Bradley jumped in front with two runs in the opening inning. After Sohrab Rezaei was hit by a pitch and Landon Lowe singled, Hayden Miller delivered an RBI single to score Rezaei. Michael Quick later came home on a throwing error during a stolen base attempt by Miller, giving the Braves a 2-0 lead.
UIC trimmed the deficit with single runs in the second and sixth innings to even the game at 2-2, but Bradley responded in a big way over its final two trips to the plate.
In the seventh, Angelo Aleman reached on a hit-by-pitch before Jaxon Schumacher launched a two-run home run to put the Braves back in front, 4-2. Bradley added insurance in the eighth when Luke Skinner was hit by a pitch, stole third, and scored on Michael Quick's two-run homer to extend the advantage to 6-2.
Standout Performances for Bradley
Landon Lowe and Hayden Miller each recorded two hits to lead the Braves offensively. Lowe finished 2-for-3 with a double, while Miller went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base.
Quick drove in two runs with his eighth-inning home run and scored twice, while Schumacher provided the go-ahead swing with his two-run shot in the seventh inning. Peyton Nelson added a double for Bradley, which totaled seven hits in the win.
On the Mound
Robert Sanford turned in a quality start for the Braves, allowing two runs on five hits across six innings while striking out two. He worked around traffic throughout the afternoon and kept Bradley within striking distance before the offense broke through late.
Eli Lehrman earned the win in relief, tossing three scoreless innings while allowing just two hits and striking out three. Lehrman retired the final threat in the ninth to close out the victory.
