AT BRADLEY (2016-19)
• Emerged as Bradley’s top starting pitcher midway through his junior season, highlighted by a breakout week in late March of 2018.
• Named a Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Player of the Week and the MVC Pitcher of the Week, Janssen allowed one run on one hit in 3.2 innings of his midweek start April 24 at Illinois, then came back on that Saturday to blank Missouri State on two hits with a then career-best 10 strikeouts in 6.2 innings, helping the Braves to pair of signature victories.
• As a senior in 2019, Janssen led all NCAA Division I pitchers in earned run average for several weeks, before ending the season 25th with the third-best season ERA (2.05) in the metal bat era at Bradley.
• Including five scoreless efforts, Janssen did not allow more than two earned runs in any of his first 11 outings in 2019, lowering his season ERA to 1.05 after 5.1 scoreless IP to start the 3-1 win April 19 at Dallas Baptist.
• Ended his career tied for ninth in Bradley history with 38 career pitching starts.
• His 16 starts in 2019 equaled the second-best season total in program history.
PITCHER PILOT
• Janssen produced one of the most unique off-field stories in college baseball, moonlighting as a commercial charter jet pilot during his final two years of college.
• In addition to becoming the youngest pilot in the world rated to fly a specific twin-engine jet, Janssen purchased his own plane in 2018.
• Based out of the Central Illinois Regional Airport in Bloomington/Normal, Janssen’s commercial charter flight clients included celebrity couple Donnie Wahlberg and Jenny McCarthy.
AT PRINCEVILLE HIGH SCHOOL
• A three-sport athlete during high school, Janssen was a four-year letterman in baseball, basketball and football.
• Was first-team All-LTC and all-state his junior and senior seasons, in addition to being a three-time McDonald’s All-Star.
• Illinois Coaches Association all-state and first-team team all-area his senior year.
• During his senior season as a two-way player, Janssen hit .380 with 6 HR, 2 3B, and 10 2B, as well as sporting a 0.68 ERA with 162 strikeouts in 82 innings during the regular season.
• Added a 0.75 ERA with 45 strikeouts 21 postseason innings.
• For his prep career, Janssen had 406 strikeouts in 195 innings with 15 shutouts.
• On the gridiron, Janssen was the LTC honorable mention quarterback, second-team All-LTC kicker and punter and first-team al-area and an all-state honorable mention at linebacker.
PERSONAL
• The son of Steve and Stephanie Janssen, Mitch was born Aug. 11, 1997 in Peoria.
• Has a younger brother, Justin.
