Allan Hanson joins the Bradley Braves men’s basketball program after spending the last four seasons with the Southern Utah University Thunderbirds as an assistant coach.
During his time with the Thunderbirds, the program won 69 games over four years, including two 23+ win seasons. Southern Utah qualified for postseason play in both 2021–22 (The Basketball Classic) and 2022–23 (The College Basketball Invitational).
Before his tenure at Southern Utah, Hanson served as an assistant coach at Western Illinois under his former collegiate head coach, Rob Jeter.
In 2019, Hanson led Nicolet High School to a WIAA State Championship as head coach, compiling a 117–37 record over three seasons. His 2019 team finished the season ranked 7th in the nation by USA Today.
Prior to taking over at Nicolet, Hanson held roles at UW-Milwaukee, serving as Director of Basketball Operations in 2015 and Video Coordinator in 2014.
Collegiately, Hanson played at UW-Milwaukee from 2004–08, where he was a member of two NCAA Tournament teams, including a Sweet 16 run. He played under current Southern Utah head coach Rob Jeter for three seasons.
A former standout at Wauwatosa East High School, Hanson helped lead Milwaukee to two 20-win seasons and NCAA Tournament appearances during his playing career.
Before returning to his alma mater in 2014–15, Hanson spent two seasons as an assistant boys’ basketball coach at Dominican High School in Whitefish Bay, Wis., where the Knights captured back-to-back WIAA Division 4 state championships and posted a combined 49–7 record.
