Biography

HIGH SCHOOL
Zobrist played high school basketball at nearby Metamora High School, where he led the Redbirds to multiple sectional championships and two state championship berths. Zobrist averaged 12.4 points, 3.7 assists and 3.2 rebounds per game for the Redbirds in his junior season while helping the Redbirds win its first IHSA State Title in Class 3A. His junior season success earned him a spot on the 2024 IBCA All-State Third Team and 2024 Mid-Illini Conference First Team.

having established himself as a standout player on the Illinois high school basketball scene over his high school seasons. Winning had become second nature for both Zobrist and Metamora during his high school career. Over his four years, Zobrist has helped his team secure 100+ wins, multiple sectional titles, and two state championship berths. As a result of his impressive performance, Zobrist was ranked as the #4 high school player in the state of Illinois in the 2025 class by the City/Suburban Hoops Report. Additionally, he was named to the 2024 Illinois Basketball Coaches Association All-State Third Team, he also has been named as a 2024 Mid-Illini Conference first team pick.

Matthew Zobrist was born on August 7, 2006 in Peoria, Ill., to Amy and Aaron Zobrist. His father, Aaron, played for the Braves from 1993-97, ranks fourth in program history in made three-pointers and is a Bradley Athletics Hall of Famer. His cousin, Nate Kennell, was a Brave from 2016-20 and currently ranks third all-time in three pointers made.
