Phillips joined the Braves as a walk-on in 2006 following a stellar, two-sport career at Peoria Richwoods High School ... Has appeared in 21 games during his three-year Bradley career and scored a career-best four points Nov. 21, 2006 versus Florida A&M ... Received extended minutes during Bradley's preseason trip to Brazil and put himself into position to earn significant playing time as a senior by averaging 2.2 ppg, 3.0 rpg and tying for second on the team with 10 steals in the five games.

Helped Richwoods to the 2006 IHSA Class 2A state championship game at Carver Arena, earning all-conference honors in the Mid-State 6 by averaging 9.3 ppg and 5.3 rpg ... Teamed with three more Division I players on the hardwood:  Bill Cole (Illinois), Justin Dehm (Furman) and former Brave James Robertson ... Also helped the Knights to a 7-3 football record and a berth in the state playoffs, doubling as quarterback on offense and "monster" back on defense.
