Box Score INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Sophomore Amber DeBroux hammered home a career-high 21 kills and junior Lindsay Stalzer had a match-high 22 kills to power the Bradley Volleyball Team to a 3-1 (30-25, 20-30, 30-23, 30-22) victory over Western Illinois at the Butler Invitational Saturday afternoon.
The Braves continued their recent mastery of the Westerwinds, winning their sixth consecutive match against Western Illinois and ninth in the last 10 meetings between the schools. Bradley improved to 2-4 on the season with the win. The victory was win number 100 at Bradley for head coach Scott Luster.
DeBroux, who hit .438 in Friday's match against Jacksonville State, had a career-best 21 kills and had just one hitting error on the afternoon to finish with a .556 attack percentage. She also matched a career-high with two service aces and set a new career best with five block assists.
Stalzer matched a season-high with 22 kills and added two aces and five blocks to help the Braves to the win. Junior Briony Hammet posted her first double-double of the season with 12 kills and a career-high 20 digs. Fellow junior Gillian Falknor had a career-high 21 digs to lead the defensive efforts for the Braves.
Sophomore Amy McFarland also tallied a career-high with eight kills, hitting .375 for the match. Junior Ashley Vance played the entire match at setter, marking the first time she has been able to play the entire match this season after missing the first three matches due to an injury. The Braves had season-highs in kills (75) and attack percentage (.276) in the match.
Bradley closes out play at the Butler Invitational Saturday evening against tournament host Butler at 7 p.m. at Hinkle Fieldhouse.
