WICHITA, Kan. ? Wichita State completed a three-game sweep of Bradley (26-26, 10-14 MVC) in emphatic fashion Saturday and the #14 Shockers (41-15, 19-5 MVC) extended its home winning streak in the series to 24 games with a 21-5 victory in the regular-season finale for both teams at Eck Stadium.

With the victory, Wichita State clinched the top seed for next week's State Farm MVC Tournament and the Shockers will receive a first-round by in the tournament's new format.  Bradley will be the No. 6 seed and will face third-seeded Creighton in Wednesday's 3 p.m. first-round game.  Wednesday's winner will advance to second round action Thursday, while the Bradley-Creighton loser will face the possibility of a first-day exit by playing in Wednesday night's 7 p.m. elimination game.

The Shockers left little doubt about the outcome of Saturday's game, scoring eight runs in the first inning.  Bradley starter Collin Brennan (0-4) did not retire a batter.  The junior right-hander walked the first two hitters on nine pitches, before giving up a 2-run double to Connor Gillaspie.  Clinton McKeever followed with a 2-run home run, and after Dusty Coleman singled, Josh Workman slugged a second 2-run homer.  Tyler Weber singled and Tyler Hill doubled to finally chase Brennan.

Tyler Thornton relieved and immediately gave up a run-scoring double to Kevin Hall before striking out Andy Dirks for the first out of the inning with the Shockers already leading 7-0.  Ryan Jones made it 8-0 with an RBI ground out, and after walking Gillaspie, Thornton got McKeever to fly out to end the first.

Unfortunately for the Braves, Wichita State's first inning outburst was not it highest-scoring inning of the game.  After Matt Fritz put the Bradley on the board with a second-inning sacrifice fly, the Shockers truly broke the game open with a 9-run fourth inning to take a 17-1 lead.  The Shockers sent 14 hitters to the plate in the fourth inning, which ended when Weber grounded into a double play.

Bradley used five pitchers Saturday and the first four hurlers combined to allow the 21 runs on 18 hits with nine walks and one hit batter.  Bradley's fifth pitcher, senior lefty Spencer Hahn worked a perfect sixth inning.

Wichita State starter, Anthony Capra, struck out seven in 6.0 innings and improved to 9-0 by allowing two of Bradley's five runs.  Khol Nanney gave up three unearned runs in the seventh to complete the game, which was halted after seven innings due to the Valley's 10-run rule.
