PEORIA, Ill. -- Senior volleyball player Rachelle Dejean (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after breaking the Bradley career digs record last week.
Dejean had a team-high 12 digs Friday against 12th-ranked Northern Iowa, breaking Jenny Pavlas (1993-97) school career record of 1,361 digs. Her 12-dig effort was the 71st double-digit dig outing of her career and pushed her career dig total to 1,363. An advertising major, Dejean owns a 3.77 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
Dejean and the Braves return to action Friday, hosting Drake in a 7 p.m. match at Renaissance Coliseum. Friday's match will be senior night for BU with seniors Annie Cave, Genevieve Dejean, Rachelle Dejean and Megan Schmidt recognized in a pre-match ceremony.
