INDIANAPOLIS – Senior guard Walt Lemon, Jr. scored a team-high 19 points and junior forward Tyshon Pickett recorded his first
career double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds, leading Bradley (3-0) to a
79-72 win at IUPUI (2-2) Saturday
night at The Jungle.
The Braves snapped an 11-game road
losing streak to improve to 3-0 for the third consecutive year.
John Hart scored a game-high 26 points
for the host Jaguars, who also got a pair of 15-point efforts from Mitchell
Patton and Greg Rice.
Senior swingman Jake Eastman matched his career-high with 17 points and junior
center Jordan Prosser added 10
points off the bench for the Braves.
Locked in a 65-65 tie following a Hart
basket with 3:25 left, the Braves turned to its veterans to close out the
game. Senior guard Dyricus Simms-Edwards started an 8-1 run with two free throws and
had a highlight caliber rebound-assist to Eastman that stretched Bradley's lead
to 71-66 with 1:36 left. Lemon scored five
points in the final 53.4 seconds and teamed with Simms-Edwards (7) and Eastman
(2) for Bradley's final 14 points.
The Braves will return to the road for their
next game, another men's and women's basketball doubleheader, but this time
featuring both the Bradley men and women at South Florida. The women's game is scheduled for a 4 p.m. CT
tip at USF's Sun Dome and will be followed by the 6:30 p.m. men's game between
the Braves and Bulls. Bradley will
return home Nov. 24 to host Tennessee-Martin in a 1 p.m. game at Carver Arena.
