AUBURNDALE, Fla. – Sophomore center fielder Max Murphy was 3-for-6 with two triples and three runs scored, leading Bradley (9-9) to its sixth consecutive victory, a 12-2 decision against Washington & Jefferson (4-3) at the RussMatt Baseball Central Florida Invitational Wednesday afternoon at Lake Myrtle Park.

Bradley freshman Eric Scheuermann (2-1) picked up his second win of the year by allowing a pair of unearned runs, scattering seven hits and striking out seven in his 7.0 innings pitched. Relievers Elliot Ashbeck and Graig Weber each pitched a perfect inning to close out the win.

Murphy was one of six Braves with multiple hits Wednesday as Bradley roughed up four Washington and Jefferson pitchers for 17 hits.

Murphy got the scoring started by legging out a 2-out triple in the top of the first, then came home on a wild pitch. Isaac Smith drove in the first of his three runs with an RBI double in the second inning for a 2-0 lead. After Washington and Jefferson closed to within 2-1 by plating an unearned run in the fourth, the Braves broke it open with four in the sixth and three more in the seventh.

Four straight singles got the sixth-inning rally started before Smith delivered the big blow with a 2-run double. Shortstop Tyler Leffler added a 2-run double of his own to highlight the seventh-inning outburst.

Bradley's final three games in the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational will be played against Dartmouth, beginning with a 2 p.m. game Thursday at Chain of Lakes Park in Winter Haven. The 3-game series will continue at 4:30 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. Saturday. Junior right-hander John Nasshan (1-3) is expected to start Thursday's series opener for the Braves.
