PEORIA, Ill. – A limited number of fans will get an exclusive sneak peak at the 2013-14 Bradley men's basketball team as the Braves prepare for their preseason trip to the Bahamas next month.
Bradley Athletics is hosting a Bahamian style lunch with head coach Geno Ford Aug. 7 in the Braves Club Room at Renaissance Coliseum, followed by an opportunity to attend one of the team's 10 closed practices in advance of the preseason trip. In addition to a light lunch and exclusive access to the practice and intrasquad scrimmage, attendees will have their picture taken with Ford, to be autographed by the third-year Braves head coach, and a Bradley Basketball beach towel.
Tickets for the event are $125 each and are limited to the first 125 fans to reserve a spot with proceeds to benefit the trip. To make a reservation, contact the Bradley Basketball office (cabraun@bradley.edu or 309-677-2668).
Bradley announced earlier this week the Braves would embark Aug. 11 for a 6-day trip to the Bahamas, where the Braves will face the top four teams from the island country's National Professional Basketball Association in the fifth annual Summer of Thunder Classic. In preparation for the trip, Bradley is allowed 10 preseason practices.
Led by rising seniors Walt Lemon, Jr. and Tyshon Pickett, the team's top scorer and rebounder, respectively, Bradley returns seven lettermen from a squad that enjoyed one of the best turnarounds in the nation last year. The Braves made an 11-win improvement to 18-17 overall and advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2013 CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament.
The team's 2013-14 roster also will include 2012-13 redshirts Anthony Fields and Omari Grier, as well as true freshmen Jordan Swopshire, Xzavier Taylor and Stefan Zecevic; and junior college transfers Auston Barnes and Chris Blake. Junior forward Mike Shaw, a transfer from Illinois, will not be permitted to make the trip due to NCAA transfer rules.
