NEW ORLEANS - Junior lefthander Brent Stong (2-0) allowed four hits in 8.0 scoreless innings for a second consecutive start, helping Bradley (7-2) to a doubleheader split and series win versus Southeast Missouri State (4-6) Saturday afternoon at Wesley Barrow Stadium.

After Southeast Missouri State snapped Bradley's four-game winning streak with a 7-2 victory in the opener, Bradley bounced back for a 5-0 victory in the nightcap.

Game 1 Recap | Southeast Missouri State 7, Bradley 2
The Redhawks became the first team to score first against Bradley this season by plating an unearned run in the first inning and Southeasat Missouri State steadily pulled away for a 7-2 win in Saturday's opener.

First baseman Ryan Rippee was 2-for-5 with 5 RBI's and leadoff hitter Trevor Ezell paced SEMO's 9-hit attack by going 3-for-4 with three runs scored.

Bradley starter Steve Adkins (1-1) took the loss, allowing four runs, three earned, on five hits in his 4.0 innings. Travis Hayes (2-1) earned the win for the Redhawks by scattering five hits in 7.0 innings and allowing both runs.

Center fielder Isaac Smith drove in both runs for the Braves on ground balls with a runner at third in the fifth and seventh innings. Carson Weber doubled and scored in the fifth, while Zach Fairchild singled in the seventh and took third on an Evan Gruener double before scoring on Smith's ground out.

Designated hitter Ian Kristan (2-4) and Fairchild (2-2) both collected two hits for the Braves. Third baseman Spencer Gaa legged out the first of Bradley's three doubles in the fourth inning, but came out of the game after aggravating a hamstring injury suffered last weekend at McNeese State.

Game 2 Recap | Bradley 5, Southeast Missouri State 0
Stong extended his personal scoreless streak to 16.0 innings by scattering four singles in 8.0 scoreless innings for the second straight start. Stong walked one and struck out seven.

The Braves wasted little time getting on the board in the nightcap. Chris Godinez drew a leadoff walk, took second on a wild pitch and scored on Brady Wilkin's double to right center. Kristan added a RBI single later in the inning and Elliot Ashbeck completed the 3-run first with a RBI groundout.

Friday's winning pitcher, Ashbeck added his first home run of the season in the fifth inning. Kristan (2-5) and first baseman Paul Solka (2-4) both finished with multiple hits.

The Braves will return to action next weekend in Nashville, where Bradley will face Quinnipiac Saturday at Belmont's E.S. Rose Park, then will play both Quinnipiac and Belmont March 8.
