CORPUS CHRISTI, TX - Bradley's duo of Luke's - freshman SS Luke Shadid and sophomore 1B Luke Mangieri - combined to go 5-for-8 with five runs batted in, leading the Braves (1-1) to a 9-5 win at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (1-1) Saturday afternoon at Chapman Field.

Each team has used a big inning to propel itself to a win and a series split through the first two games of the weekend series.  They will play the rubber game Sunday with a 1 p.m. start at Chapman Field.  Senior RHP Eric Scheuermann is expected to get the start on the mound Sunday for the Braves.

Sophomore LHP Ben Olson earned Saturday's win by allowing four runs on six hits with four walks and four strikeouts in his 5.2 innings.  Senior RHP Nathan Stong picked up the save by completing the final 3.1 innigns, allowing one run on three hits with one walk and three strikeouts.  With Bradley leading 5-3, Stong inherited a bases-loaded, 2-outs situation in the sixth.  After a wild pitch made it 5-4, Stong used his first strikeout to get out of the jam.

The Braves got the run back in the seventh when LF Spencer Gaa scored on an Islanders wild pitch, then broke the game open with three runs in the eighth.  After newcomers Derek Bangert and Brendan Dougherty hit consecutive 1-out singles, Luke Shadid drove them home with a 2-run single to left center.  He stole second for his first career steal, advanced to third on a wild pitch and eventually came home on a Mangieri fielder's choice ground ball.

Although Mangieri collected a RBI and reached first when the Islanders took an out at second base on the play, his streak of reaching base safely officially ended at his first eight plate appearances of the season.  Mangieri was 3-for-3 with a walk in his four plate appearances Friday, then went 2-for-2 with two hit-by-pitches before his 8th-inning fielder's choice Saturday.  Although the last at-bat does not count as reaching base safely by official scorekeeping rules, he has been on base after each of his first nine plate appearances of the season.

After falling behind 3-0 through three innings, Bradley rallied with five runs in the fifth.  Andrew Ivelia and Andy Shadid drew consecutive walks to start the inning and Bangert followed with his first career base hit to load the bases.  Islanders starter Korey Rasure balked home Bradley's first run before giving way to reliever Nolan Holland, who promptly issued a wild pitch to make it 3-2.  After Dougherty walked, Luke Shadid tied the game with his RBI double and Gaa followed with a RBI ground out for a 4-3 lead, before Mangieri completed the rally with a RBI single.
