Game Recap: Baseball | | Bobby Parker, Associate AD for Communications
PEORIA, IL – The Bradley baseball team posted a dominating 15-0 win in seven innings against Robert Morris-Springfield at Dozer Park on Saturday afternoon. The Braves won their second-straight game to improve to 8-12 on the year, while the Eagles drop to 2-12.

Senior Spencer Gaa led the Braves with a 3-for-4 afternoon, knocking in three runs and scoring twice. The senior got things started quickly for the home team, hitting a home run in his first at-bat after freshman Luke Shadid drew a hit by pitch as Bradley grabbed a 2-0 lead and never looked back. Gaa also added an RBI double in the second inning before a single in the fourth plated one more run to finish his afternoon.

After the Braves scored three runs in the first inning, a five-run second put BU ahead by eight. Junior Derek Bangert's three-run homer that hit off the left field foul pole highlighted the inning that featured BU batting around the order and eight players reaching base safely.

Overall, the 15 runs for the Braves are the team's most since a 17-1 victory against Illinois College last season and the most in a shutout since a 19-0 win over Northern Illinois during the 2013 season.

Junior Mitch Plassmeyer pitched a scoreless fifth inning for Bradley to earn his first Division I victory, while sophomore Ben Olson pitched four innings without allowing a run to start the game. Isaac Lueth and Allan Beer also combined for the shutout.

Austin Whitlock took the loss for the Eagles, allowing five runs in an 1 1/3 innings.

The Braves are back in action tomorrow afternoon, wrapping up their first series at Dozer Park this year against Eureka at 2 p.m.
