Game Recap: Baseball |
Auburndale, Fla. – Fairfield scored three unearned runs in the ninth inning to rally for a 7-5 victory against the Bradley baseball team on Tuesday afternoon. The Braves are now 4-9 on the season, while the Stags improve to 5-8.

Senior Keaton Rice led BU with three hits in the contest, while sophomores Jackson Chatterton and Ryan Vogel connected for two hits.

The Braves opened the scoring in the bottom half of the second inning, scoring on a bases loaded groundout for the 1-0 advantage. In a back-and-forth game all day, Fairfield answered with two in the top of the fourth with its first two unearned runs of the day for a 2-1 edge.

Bradley countered with a pair in the sixth. Junior Connor O'Brien knocked in his team-leading 13th and 14th runs of the season with a double that scored Carl Valk and Vogel for the 3-2 edge.

The BU lead, however, was short-lived as the Stags answered with two their next time at bat, scoring both with a two-out double. Bradley took the lead one final time with a pair of runs in the eighth inning. After a leadoff double by Vogel, Rice drove him in with a single for the 4-4 contest. The Braves then moved ahead with a single from Carson Husmann for the 5-4 contest heading into the ninth inning.

Fairfield would have one last lead change in them though with three runs in the ninth. A one-out error allowed a second Stag to reach base successfully, ultimately leading to a pair of two-out singles that gave Fairfield the 7-5 victory.

The Braves are back in action during their Florida Spring Break trip on Wednesday afternoon, squaring off with Central Connecticut at noon CT.
