Valparaiso, Ind. – The Bradley baseball team saw its three-game winning streak snapped on Saturday as Valparaiso earned an 8-2 home win. The Braves are now 17-26 on the year with an 8-9 mark in Missouri Valley play, while the Beacons improve to 15-29 and 4-13 versus league foes.
 
Valpo gained an early advantage when the hosts hit five singles in the third frame to take a 3-0 lead. The Beacons then added two via a home run in the sixth to gain some breathing room before finishing off their scoring with two doubles in the eighth.
 
Junior Connor Manthey broke up the shutout attempt when he hit a two-run homer in the ninth – his fifth long ball of the campaign.
 
The rubber game of the three-game series is set for Sunday afternoon with a 1 p.m. first pitch in Valparaiso.
