Game Recap: Baseball |
Peoria, Ill. – The Bradley baseball team cruised to an 11-1 victory over visiting Western Illinois on Tuesday night at Dozer Park. With the win, the Braves improve to 14-24 on the season.

All nine Braves recorded at least one hit in the winning effort. Sophomore Ryan Vogel led BU with three on the night to go with three runs scored and two RBI. Four other Braves collected two hits with sophomore Jackson Chatterton knocking in a team-best three runs, while Keaton Rice matched Vogel with three runs scored.

Bradley scored in each of the first five innings to grab a commanding 9-0 advantage. After opening the scoring with a bases-loaded walk, Logan Delgado drove in two with a two-out RBI single for a 3-0 game through one. Vogel then scored his second run of the game via groundout in the second before Timmy O'Brien singled home Delgado in the third for a 5-0 ball game.

Vogel then struck his fourth home run of the season in the fourth inning before a Chatterton triple added two more Bradley runs. With his third hit of the night, Vogel then drove in one more run in the fifth inning for the 9-0 tally.

Western Illinois pulled one back in the sixth and Bradley then completed the scoring with two more runs in the eighth. A Carson Husmann double scored Rice before Chatterton drove in his game-high third run with a single for the 11-1 final score.

Three Bradley pitchers combined to allow just one unearned run and three hits in the winning effort. Senior Troy Hickey picked up his first win of the season, pitching 3.0 innings and striking out two.

The Braves continue their four-game homestand this weekend with a three-game series against Indiana State. The schools open the action on Friday night at Dozer Park at 6 p.m.
