IOWA CITY, Iowa – With the full Track & Field squad back from winter break, the Braves set a litany of season and personal best times at the Larry Wieczorek Invite on Friday and Saturday as the team wrapped up the Iowa City portion of the Indoor schedule.
Twenty-three new season- or personal-best times were set across the two-day meet, including nine new additions to the Track & Field Program Record Book.
Roman Lewis set the fourth-fastest men's 200m time in program history, completing the race in 23.19 seconds on Friday night.
Kaden Kingsmith ran the men's 600m in 1:21.87, good for the fourth-fastest 600m time in program history and his second top-ten program time this season (1000m program record, set on 12/14/24).
The men's and women's mile races on Saturday saw 13 top-ten times, season & personal bests and notable performances in total.
Kaitlyn Sheppard (4:43.22, fourth-fastest),
Abigail Hancock (4:43.79, sixth-fastest),
Jayde Rosslee (4:06.20, eighth-fastest),
Jamie Phillips (4:07.33, ninth-fastest) and
Caleb Lind (4:07.44, 10th-fastest) set new top-ten program times in their respective mile races.
Jack Crull's 4:01.38 in the men's mile earned him the event victory, finishing at least five seconds ahead of all other competitors.
Ciara Thornley (4:54.25),
Travis Gaffney (4:09.70),
Caden Simone (4:12.00) and Zach Balzer (4:12.21) set new personal bests, while
Trixie Wraith (4:46.88),
Nadia Potgieter (4:56.85) and
Anna Perry (4:58.10) ran season-best times.
Carolina Martinez continued her strong start to her collegiate track career, improving her fourth-best program time in the women's 400m, shaving her time by four-hundredths of a second to 57.54.
Martinez,
Julia de Palma Mendiguchia, Rajlich and
Amiyah Davis combined to set the third-fastest 4x400m Relay time in program history, completing the race in 3:52.89.
Other personal- and season-best times ran at the Wieczorek Invite include
Hope Rajlich's 1:01.14 in the women's 400m,
Eilen Brenne's 2:14.40 and
Grace Kearns' 2:15.17 in the women's 800m and
Sophia Cino (10:02.98),
Skyler Balzer (10:03.57),
Ian O'Laughlin (8:29.38) and
Brandon Kamp (8:35.33) in their respective 3000m races.
Isaac Lind completed his first collegiate men's 600m race in 1:23.96.
