NOTRE DAME, Ind. -- Splitting the squad for the first time this season, Bradley Track & Field continued to rewrite the record book, setting fourteen new top 10 times and a new program record in sprints at the Meyo Invitational and Terrier Classic.
Olivia Redpath, competing in one of the Meyo Invitational's first events on Friday, ran her 60m qualifier race in 7.78 seconds to set a new program record in the event. The time was a new personal best for Redpath and broke Leah Thames' record of 7.80 from 2023. After qualifying for the preliminary round, Redpath clocked a time of 7.791.
Just an hour and 30 minutes later, Redpath set the sixth-fastest 200m time at 25.48 seconds, with teammate
Ava Wilson clocking a 25.49-second time for the seventh-fastest time. Shortly after on the men's side,
Brayson Barth also set the seventh-fastest time at 23.18 seconds.
Julia Brown improved on her 400m top time, lowering her personal best to 55.61 seconds (third-fastest), while Julia de Palma's personal record of 57.61 clocks in at the seventh-fastest time.
Distance runner
Skyler Balzer cracked the top 10 in the women's 5000m event with her time of 16:56.91, while the relay team of Martinez, de Palma, the debuting
Hanri Pretorius and
Julia Brown set the program's second-fastest 4x400m Relay time of 3:47.88.
While the team excelled at Notre Dame, the Braves competing at John Thomas Terrier Classic in Boston shined in middle- and long-distance events.
Friday saw
Abigail Hancock set the fourth-fastest mile time at 4:41.91. The 3000m race saw personal bests from
Nadia Potgieter and
Trixie Wraith, as the pair ran times of 9:15.58 and 9:18.55 for the #3 and #4 times in Bradley history, respectively.
Travis Gaffney set a significant milestone in the men's 3000m race on Saturday. Gaffney ran a time of 7:59.98, becoming just the second Brave ever to break 8:00.00 in the event. The time is the fourth instance of an athlete running sub-8:00, with Michael Ward setting the first three instances in 2018 and 2019. Elsewhere,
Sawyer LeBlanc and
Caleb Lind set the fifth- and sixth-fastest times in the 3000m, running 8:03.02 and 8:03.94, respectively.
In addition to the 14 top 10 times, 11 additional personal bests were set across the weekend. Freshmen
Ayva Rush (400m),
Hanri Pretorius (800m),
Noelle Steines (Mile),
Christian Harris (Mile),
Michael Schmalz (Mile),
Wiepke Schoeman (3000m) and
Jacob Trangmar (3000m) each set personal records in their respective events. Elsewhere,
Sophia Cino and
Oliver Burns set new 5000m personal bests,
Brayson Barth set a 400m personal best and
Rhune Vanroose picked up a 3000m personal best.
