PEORIA, Ill. – Bradley Baseball tied the game late but ultimately fell to the UIC Flames, 11-4, in their second-to-last game of the regular season.
A Late Rally
The Flames struck first in the opening inning with an RBI groundout and a solo shot to left-center field to make it 2-0. Bradley responded in the second inning when Angelo Aleman launched a solo homer to left field to pull Bradley within one. UIC added two more runs in the fourth with an RBI single and a double play that brought home another run.
The Braves cut the deficit to two in the bottom half of the fourth inning on Peyton Nelson's RBI double. Bradley later tied the game in the seventh on Landon Lowe's RBI single, advancing to third on a throwing error, and Michael Quick drove him in with an RBI single to even the score at 4-4.
The Flames regained the lead in the eighth inning and pulled away for good with a two-RBI double and a two-run homer to left field. They added three more runs in the ninth on a two-RBI double and a sacrifice fly to secure the 11-4 victory.
Standout Performances for Bradley
Aleman homered in back-to-back games, going 1-for-2 with a homer, two walks, an RBI, and two runs scored. Lowe went 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored, collecting his fifth hit over his past three games.
Quick continued his hot streak, going 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Luke Skinner reached base three times, going 1-for-3 with two hit-by-pitches and a run scored.
On the Mound
Davis Webb made the start, pitching three innings while allowing four runs, two earned, on six hits with two walks and five strikeouts. Calen Scheider took his 10th loss of the season, pitching four hitless innings while yielding one run on two walks.
Josh Vaughn threw one inning without giving up an earned run while striking out one.
Standout Performances for UIC
Brandon Bak had a strong start for the Flames, pitching six innings while allowing two runs on five hits with three walks and seven strikeouts. Offensively, Thomas Curry hit 2-for-6 with a double, four RBI, and a run scored.
