Box Score BRADENTON, Fla. -- Freshman outfielder Colby Luttrell (Kincaid, Ill./South Fork H.S.) drove home the winning run with a bases-loaded single in the 10th inning, making a winner of freshman reliever Collin Brennan (Williamsville, Ill./Williamsville H.S.) for the first time in his college career, Bradley downed Indiana, 6-5, Tuesday morning at the IMG Sports Academy.
Bradley (5-6) won its second straight game in extra innings and the Braves improved to 3-0 during their Spring Break trip to Bradenton. Indiana fell to 2-8 overall.
Brennan (1-0) relieved starter Collin Walker to begin the seventh inning with the Braves trailing 4-2. In his fourth collegiate mound appearance, the 6-foot-6 righty limited the Hoosiers to three hits and one unearned run in his four innings of work. Brennan also struck out five, increasing his team-leading total to 11 strikeouts in just 9 1/3 innings in the early going.
Bradley pulled ahead, 5-4, in the bottom of the seventh on the first career home run by freshman shortstop Dan Brewer (Brookfield, Ill./Lyons Township H.S.). After Luttrell drew a one-out walk, senior first baseman Jason Newburger followed with a single before Brewer drilled his 3-run blast to left field.
Indiana pulled even in the ninth, scoring an unearned run when Reggie Watson reached on a Brennan error, stole second and scored on Zach Boswell's one-out double. Brennan bounced back, though, and stranded pinch-runner Trevor McConnell at second by getting Tad Reida to fly out and Tyler Cox to strikeout.
Paul Rice started Bradley's 10th-inning rally by drawing a one-out walk. Catcher Ryan Eigsti followed with a single to put runners at first and third. The Hoosiers intentionally walked designated hitter John Lequia, loading the bases for Luttrell, who delivered with a single into left centerfield.
Bradley will continue its Spring Break trip by facing Fairleigh Dickinson Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. (CST).
