PEORIA, Ill. – Bradley Women's Basketball senior guard Gabi Haack (Elk River, Minn./Elk River) is the 68th recipient of the Charles Orsborn Award and her acceptance speech helps highlight the final day of the 2021 Kaboom! Awards, presented by RE/MAX Traders Unlimited and supported by PNC.

Honoring Bradley's former four-sport student-athlete, Men's Basketball Head Coach and Director of Athletics, the Charles Orsborn Award is the most-prestigious honor Bradley University bestows upon a graduating senior student-athlete and recognizes the ability of the winner to combine athletic and academic success with community service.  The award was selected by the Intercollegiate Athletics Committee (IAC), following a thorough review of three finalists.

The only three-time First-Team All-Missouri Valley Conference selection in program history, Haack was named the MVC's Dr. Charlotte West Award Winner, given annually to the top all-around student-athlete in the conference in the areas of academic achievement, athletics excellence and service and leadership, earlier this month

In addition to being named one of 30 national candidates for the Senior CLASS Award this past season, Haack was selected as the MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Year.  She was second in the MVC in scoring at 16.5 points per game and sixth in rebounding (6.8 rpg) in 2020-21.  Hitting a league-best 77 three-pointers this past year, Haack was 11th nationally in three-point baskets.

Haack averaged 21.0 points per game and shot 42 percent from three-point range during Bradley's run to the first MVC Tournament title and NCAA Tournament appearance in program history, capturing MVC Tournament Most Outstanding Player honors in the process.

Finishing the year second in career scoring at Bradley, Haack is 40 points from becoming the all-time leading scorer at BU and is the only player in MVC history to hit 60 or more three-pointers in four different seasons.  She closed the year second in league history with 283 career three-pointers.

An elementary education major with a 3.81 cumulative grade point average, Haack became the first Brave to earn CoSIDA Academic All-District honors in over a decade.  She was one of two players in the country with 75 three-pointers, 190 rebounds and 60 or more assists this past season and has started a school record 109 consecutive contests dating back to early in her freshman year.

In addition to her work on the court and in the classroom, Haack has represented her team on the Braves Council and organized team visits to Harrison Primary School.  Her many volunteer efforts include volunteering with Read Across America, Habitat for Humanity, the Miracle Walk and visits to the OSF Children's Hospital of Illinois along with assisting several other organizations throughout the Central Illinois area.

Haack is the first individual from Bradley Women's Basketball to take home the Orsborn Award since Jenny Van Kirk in 2010 and the ninth Bradley Women's Basketball student-athlete to win the honor, joining a list that includes Head Coach Andrea Gorski.
